Hi, everyone, and welcome to another marketing video!
Today, I’m actually going to show you how I create video content for you that, works on the software side. We’ll go through the lighting and the microphone and the camera side another time. Right now I’m going to show you some very basic video editing to give you an idea of how quickly you can generate a slightly more professional video. The software we’re going to use today is called Wondershare Filmora and this is the one I recommend to most people because it is very user friendly and easy to understand.
Cost-Effectiveness of Filmora
And at only approximately one hundred dollars a year, it’s not that expensive if you’re actually trying to generate real revenue for your business.
It’s not the only software that I would recommend, but it’s certainly the best for someone who’s not super tech savvy but just needs to get the basics done right.
So let’s go to it now. I’m going to switch over to Filmora, and you can see that on my screen right now.
And what I’m going to do is I’m going to find my video.
There it is. And I’m going to drag this straight into this media zone over here.
And you can see that my video is now appearing in the media tab, which we’re in over here.
Now what I’m going to do is I’m going to drag this down to the video channel here. This is the video channel. You can have as many as you want, but we’re only going to use one today because all we’re going to do is fix a few basics.
Initial Video Setup
Let’s hit play and see what it looks like.
Everyone. Wow. Wasn’t that just terrible? But this is actually the best way to start your video is with a nice long run up, lots of sitting time at the start, getting ready, cameras already on. The reason this is the best way is we can choose the exact start point that we want, somewhere with a smile, somewhere where it all makes sense. So let’s just drag back. I’m going to grab our timeline here on the red bit and drag a little bit back until I find a smile.
That’s not it. I’m still reading my notes.
There we go. That will do. And I’m going to hit this split button here. Click that, and now you can see that my video is split into two parts. I’m going to delete that interlude up there. And now you’ll see if I hit play.
Editing the Video Start
Hi, everyone, and welcome to the marketing We’re straight into the video, which is fantastic.
Now sometimes if you do that delete bit, if this little button here is turned off and I hit delete on a segment, it doesn’t move things. Sometimes you want this function, but sometimes this causes all sorts of problems as well. So for now I’m going to put that back on and I am going to delete and that shifts everything back across.
Finding the Video End
Now I’m going to jump to the end of my video.
I’ve I’ve gone too far, and you can see I am coughing, and I’m off for my honey water.

Adjusting Video Speed
Now this is specific to me. I speak very slowly. And so I’m actually going to double click on the video down here.
And up in these video tabs here, these are the options for the video. I’m going to go to speed, and I’m going to speed myself up a bit. And that’s because I speak a little bit too slow for Internet content. It’s fine for one on one coaching because I’ve got time to think and give you good content. But what you’ll find is that speaking slower on camera gives you more time to think, you won’t stutter and stammer as much, and you can always speed it up later, which is what we’re doing here.
Now my setup’s already looking pretty good. If there was an obvious problem I could always go into the color tab and improve the exposure or the brightness or any of these things. But right now I’m not worried about effects, I just want to get my video out, named, and started because content generation, fast is best.
You can always come back and refilm things once you have your content.
Of course, this is different if you’re only filming for one marketing video, then take your time, really work on the effects and get it right.
Exporting the Video
So now up in the top right of my screen is the export button. I’m going to click this.
And I’m not going to do too many things, I’m just going to hit change thumbnail.
I’m going to find a thumbnail that doesn’t look like I’m sneezing.
That’s not bad.
And now I’m going to do a few things. I’m going to give it a name. So my name is going to be four hundred Welcome to marketing.
I’m going to make sure I’ve got it saving to the correct location. That’s great. And now here, I have to choose a few options.
The format for most people should be HEVC or MP4.
These are the two most common video files that the internet wants to deal with. MP4 is the most compatible. Everyone can read an MP4. HEVC is another name for the new codec of MP four, and basically it’s just a faster, better version with smaller file sizes.
Audio Channel Settings
So I’m going to use HEVC. I already have a nice little template set up for myself here, But what you need to do is go into settings, and there’s one very important thing we need to change here, and this all depends on your microphone. Now if you’re using a single channel microphone, which is most microphones, but you’re filming in stereo, which is what I’m doing right now, one of your channels is going to be empty. And when people listen to it through headphones, they’ll only hear your voice through their left ear, and that’s going to be super weird.
There’s a super simple fix, which doesn’t take any time at all, and all we’re going to do is we’re going to scroll down here, we’re going to change the channel, if it was on stereo, back to mono.
By changing it to mono, it deletes the empty audio channels and it just leaves your voice channel. And when people try to play this file, because there’s only one channel, the players automatically know to send it to both ears. This just gets rid of that whole empty stereo one side problem. So I’m going to hit apply.
Everything else is fine, everything’s set up the way I want it. If you do have four ks filming that’s fantastic. I’m using an older full frame camera with a fixed focal lens and so I’m stuck with 1080p but I get much better video quality so I’m happy with that. So I’m just going to hit export and that’s the magic done. This on my computer you can see it’s zooming along, it’s already at fifteen percent and it’s just spitting out the video file in no time. If you add a lot of effects and different lighting, post processing, and maybe those wipe screen effects, the fade in, all of these things, that’s going to slow you down. But that’s not a problem because you can just walk away and it’s going to ping me with a sound reminder when it’s done.
Final Thoughts on Video Production
So that’s it for a very simple way to get your video going. And it’s going to spit out the file, I can upload it to YouTube, to Facebook Marketing, wherever it needs to go. And of course, remember to keep your original video file separate, so if anything goes wrong you can always go back and start again.
